Hawk in a box

Look what Nathan's got!


This juvenile Cooper's hawk was camped out in the barn for a few days eating the quail that roost in there. After a joint effort between Nathan and the cat we were able to catch it and put it in a box for later release. As we are just starting our chicken season and our first batch of chicks will be tottering around in the grass soon and we have lost birds to this species of hark before, we decided that releasing the hawk far away from the ranch was probably a good idea.
